Catherine Sodano is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and always had a passion for fine art. Until 2010, a career in the corporate world left little opportunity to attend formal art classes so she dedicated as much time as possible to self-study. A desire to learn the techniques of the Old Masters and a haunting message from a high school art instructor about not wasting her talent, along with encouragement from family and colleagues led her to The Schuler School of Fine Arts. She looks forward to completing her studies in their four year program.
Catherine's work was frequently displayed in exhibits at The Schuler School of Fine Arts and is becoming increasingly available at other venues. Her work has been chosen for display in Still Life Gallery in Ellicott City, Maryland and the Annual International Exhibition of Fine Art in Miniature at the Strathmore Mansion in Bethesda, Maryland.
Catherine’s training and focus is one of Classical Art studying the techniques and materials of the Old Masters. She maintains a studio in her home where she works in a variety of art mediums, grinds her own pigments for oil painting and primarily uses Maroger and Flemish mediums. Although Catherine’s subject matter varies, her current focus is on animals and portraiture.
Catherine lives in Delaware with her husband, Wayne, their two cats, Mayan and Oliver.
